Link is classed as many things throughout the course of Twilight Princess, most profound being "The Hero chosen by the Gods." It's easy with a character like Link in all Zelda iterations and at any point on the Hyrule Historia Timeline to see him as a faceless, emotionless hero, but I'll do my best to summarize the man's personality based on Twilight Princess in particular. Supplementary info may be used from Hyrule Historia, which is canon information for all incarnations of Link - and also shown in game.

First and foremost, the obvious. Holder of the Triforce of Courage. This basically means that the Triforce of Courage embodies the essence of the Goddess of Courage, Farore, the source of all life -- and it's in him. Essentially, this means that Link's unbelievably brave. While realistically this means that he's not above fear, he's not going to act on fear. This comes with it's own crutch -- His judgement has occasional flaws, for example jumping in the way to stop Midna from getting hurt from a blast by Zant meant he took it on the chin himself.

Link is alike all other Links, past or present, in all timelines, in regard to sleeping in. While indeed Miyamoto did state that every Zelda game starts with Link, in some form, sleeping in and being yelled at to wake up to symbolize the player waking up in the game's world, I see it as more of a personality trait. Put simply, Twilight Princess ages Link at 16 years old. A teenage boy sleeping in isn't unreasonable. Saying that, this shouldn't be confused with a slow work ethic. While life in Ordon village is far from fast-paced, Link is shown to spend some parts of his days off helping coworkers herd goats, so work ethic is certainly there. He's very hard-working, just a little slow off the start. Teenage boy, essentially.

Link's kindness should certainly be mentioned. He sets himself to even the most menial of tasks unfailingly and uncomplainingly, often with absolutely no reward other than helping people out. An example of which is his day off at the start of the game in Ordon village - in the space of a day he clears bee nests for the villagers with a hawk, finds a cradle washed downstream for an expectant mother, goes to find a lost cat, and then fishes up a fish for said lost cat. All for absolutely no reward. Just helping people. His kindness again is exemplified with purchasing, from his own purse (and let's be real, a lot of grass chopping) a slingshot to amuse the children of the village - and he certainly holds a fondness for them close to his heart. The only reason he started off on his big huge adventure was to save them, after all.

Link is portrayed within Twilight Princess as a reliable young adult unlike other iterations where other Links are either spoiled, sassy brats (Hi, Godawful LoZ cartoon) or Skyward Sword where he's a bit of a derp, or even the Hyrule Historia portrayal of the original Link - unbelievably patrotic and driven. He's certainly different from other incarnations of other Links - responsible and measured - his name first coming to mind to escort a gift to Hyrule's Royal Family. The mayor of Ordon village wouldn't exactly entrust something like that to someone that hadn't proved to be reliable.

Upbringing! Ordon village is a terribly tedious and very slow-paced farming community in the middle of the Faron Woods. He's on first-name terms with all of the inhabitants, and while the point of canon I'm taking him from certainly means he's seen the world, he's got quite a farm boy complex. He's humble to the point of being able to take direct criticism on the chin (Hi, Shade of the Hero) much less Midna's almost constant teasing. However, this is quite double-edged. He's not stupid, but he's certainly not worldly wise, and anyone looking to manipulate him would likely succeed because all he's ever known is good people and actual, physical monsters. Which later receive a sword to the face, but.

Link seems to hold a fondness for nature. In most cutscenes pre-Big Damn Hero, he's seen relaxing in the sun, on his own and with nature all around him. He seems contented, and happiest when either looking upon the spring or the woods. Other than the above, Link appears a very gentle spirit. One of the village children, Colin, struggles with shyness and low self esteem. He confides in Link routinely about his problem, and the fact the other children bully him. The fact an awkward child would do that indicates that Link has a good soul.

INFORMATION
  • CANON NAME Link
  • WORK NAME Priam
  • CANON: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
  • Age/Gender: 16 / male
  • Height: 5'7
  • Weight: 155 lbs
SUPERNATURAL POWERS
  • Shapeshifter: The canon point I'm taking Link from means that he can transform between his form and that of a wolf at will. His wolf form boasts no special power, though like most wolves, has heightened senses and is capable of following scent. Of course Midna co-ops like jumping obscenely far and warping are off.

  • VIOLENT PHYSICAL CONTACT Fine! Let's plot things out first though, so we've an idea of what's going to go on and what we hope to accomplish from it.
